Through our International Startup League (ISUL) project, we were able to bring four international guest lecturers to HNU in 2023 und 2024:
TEACHING

I had the opportunity to follow the final presentations of the groups of the International Strategic Management course led by Prof. Daniel Schallmo. The following rounds of feedback and questions stimulated a dynamic exchange. The next day I met with Professor Klaus Lang to ex plore possible opportunities for postdoctoral studies or joint research initiatives in Germany. In Professor Julia Kormann‘s lecture I gave a talk entitled ‚How does unethical behaviour affect brand image from the consumer‘s perspective?‘.
[...]In conclusion, my visit to HNU was academically enriching and instrumental in strengthening ties between our institutions. These relationships will continue flourishing, creating opportunities for mutual development in learning and innovation.“

Reflecting on his two-week visit, Dr. Hovav shared: „The experience exceeded my expectations, thanks to a well-structured schedule that enabled productive exchanges with faculty and students. Our discussions covered crucial topics including healthcare systems, health expenditure, and medical entrepreneurship, as well as research and development in health. The students‘ thoughtful questions about Israeli-German healthcare differences led to particularly engaging dialogues. Beyond the academic aspects, I appreciated experiencing Neu-Ulm‘s autumn beauty and German culture through wonderful days with professors Jens Pätzmann and Klaus Lang. I‘m eager to continue collaborating with my HNU colleagues.“

Robrecht Van Goolen as a guest lecturer at HNU
For 2 weeks we had the pleasure of welcoming Robrecht Van Goolen from UC Leuven-Limburg as a guest lecturer at Hochschule Neu-Ulm. His stay was financed by an ISUL scholarship.
“It has been a privilege to contribute to the academic community at HNU and engage with both students and faculty members in this enriching experience.
The warm welcome and support I received from you and the entire HNU community made my transition seamless and enjoyable. Your commitment to fostering an international exchange of knowledge and ideas is truly commendable, and I am grateful to have been a part of this collaborative effort.
I had the privilege of teaching in several courses, collaborating with esteemed professors and engaging with the German and international students.
Specifically, I taught in the following courses:
- Market Research of Prof. Dr. Sascha Fabian (Bachelor & Master classes)
- Digital Transformation and Global Entrepreneurship of Prof. Dr. Daniel Schallmo (Master classes)
- Information Management and Corporate Communications of Prof. Dr. Wilke Hammerschmidt (Bachelor classes)
Working with these professors has been a rewarding experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the academic growth of the students.
I must express my appreciation for the exceptional students at HNU. Their enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, and dedication to their studies have been inspiring. It was a pleasure to engage with such a motivated group of individuals.
During my time at HNU, I had the pleasure of participating in various enriching activities:
- Meeting with the international office with Katja Schuster
- Visiting the Usability Lab and engaging in eyetracking research with Prof. Dr. Andrea Kohlhase and Stefan Rogg
- Providing coaching to entrepreneurial students in the Innovation Space
- Visiting Christmas markets & exploring Ulm
- Attending two great Christmas parties: one with the master students and another with the team of the Institute for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainability (IfE).
These allowed me to connect with the vibrant and diverse community at HNU. Furthermore, the professionalism and collegiality of the HNU faculty have made my teaching experience truly enjoyable. A special thank you also goes to Verena Mattes and Sarah Leible who made my stay an exceptional experience.
The collaborative spirit and commitment to academic excellence have left a lasting impression on me. The exchange of ideas and the opportunity to work alongside esteemed colleagues have undoubtedly enriched my own professional development. I refer to the many discussions I had during my with Prof. Dr. Jens Uwe Pätzmann and Prof. Dr. Hans-Michael Ferdinand.
I carry with me fond memories of my time at HNU and the valuable connections I have made.”
